Register for Voice Placement Auditions
I want to join the chorus...Now what?
Are you interested in being part of our group? Here's what you need to know:
Do I have to prepare an audition?
No! The MGMC is committed to being an inclusive, community-based organization,
and we do not require members to read music or have a specific level of musical ability.
You will be asked to sing something simple for our Artistic Director, Anthony Cabrera,
to determine your vocal range, and to see where your talents will best contribute to the overall blended sound of the chorus.
This is called a "voice placement" and we all do it. It also gives you a chance to talk to Anthony and ask questions.
If you are a returning member you may be asked to do another voice placement to make sure you are placed
in the correct section for the chorus at that time.
When can I join?
Auditions occur during the first month of each half of the season.
We welcome new singers during the start of each season so that everyone gets the most out of the rehearsal process.
If you would like to get involved mid-season, we have lots of ways for you to join us: as a stagehand, part of the production team, or many other volunteer opportunities. Please email email@example.com to get involved and for more information.
Where do rehearsals/auditions take place?
We are working on a NEW LOCATION... Stay tuned!
When does the chorus rehearse?
Rehearsal is scheduled for 7:30pm - 10:00pm every Thursday night during concert season.
Get ready for Thursday to be your new favorite day of the week!
Close to performance times, we may require you to attend extra rehearsals to learn choreography
and these required rehearsals are scheduled with as much advanced notice as possible so that you can make arrangements to attend.
Do I have to read music?
While some of our members do read music, many do not.
The rehearsal schedule also includes "Sectional" rehearsals where your section will have some extra time to focus on your parts.
Regardless of your level of musical ability, we want you to feel welcome to come join our group!
Can I be a non-singing member?
YES! We’re always open and looking, during all times of year, for people to
become non-singing members or occasional volunteers. So if you can't hold a tune in a paper bag,
we still need you and we welcome you to our organization!
To inquire about how you can offer your time and talents to the chorus please email firstname.lastname@example.org for info.
